Last December 27, I took a day trip to Pisa from Florence using my Eurail Pass. I took the local train and I got there in an hour. It has always been my dream to see the Leaning Tower in person ever since I first read about it from my history book back in primary school. From the train station, I simply asked for a map from the Tourist Office and walked my way to Piazza del Duomo.
It took me about 25 to 30 minutes to get there, but I didn't notice the time pass by because I was too busy admiring the Tuscan architecture and beautiful skies.
This is the St. John Baptistery, a Romanesque style building built by an architect known as Diotisalvi "God Save You".
This is the Duomo, the medieval cathedral entitled to Santa Maria Assunta.
And finally, the Campanile or Bell Tower, famously known as the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
The tower did not lean as much as I had imagined. But still, it was stunning.
Pisa, at the heart of Tuscany, is definitely a must-see!
